The Santa Clara City Library Foundation & Friends has been named Assembly member Bob Wieckowski’s 2014 Non-Profit of the Year.  Assembly member Wieckowski recognized the Foundation & Friends at his “State of the District” event on September 25 at SanDisk in Milpitas.

According to Santa Clara City Library Foundation & Friends Board President Keith Stattenfield, “We were thrilled to hear we will be receiving this honor from Assembly member Wiekowski.  Over 150 volunteers supported the work of the Foundation last year through fundraising, advocating, and selling used books – it is great to see them recognized for their impact in the community.”

The Santa Clara City Library Foundation & Friends supports and expands library programs and collection materials for the Santa Clara City Libraries.  Throughout the years, the Foundation & Friends has been instrumental in providing funding for summer reading, health and wellness materials, author talks, money smart week, multi-cultural family programs, teen programs, and cutting-edge collection materials.  In January, 2012, the Foundation & Friends took a fiduciary role in the building of the new Northside Branch Library in Santa Clara.  When the project was stalled in 2013, the Foundation & Friends joined with the community in advocating for the completion of the project.  Santa Clara’s newest library branch, the Northside Branch Library, opened August 9, 2014.
